Foundation is a non-governmental, non-political, and non-profit organization that focuses its work on feminist activism, publishing, audio-video and digital production, event management for human rights and social changes, research, all aiming at creating and developing public dialogue about issues essential to a democratic society in BiH.
Foundation CURE is formally registered in December 2005, but is working actively since 2004 as a nonformal group dealing with the same issues.
A group of activists from the most diverse walks of life who have been working and advocating change in the domain of human rights for many years. We are also a community of enthusiasts who speak out to all publics about the violations of human rights in our country and the world, and finally, we are the volunteers who oppose and fight against all forms of violence, strive to raise awareness, educate, empower and stimulate citizenship to actively participate in the long term processes of building and developing a civil society in the BiH and the world. Our aim and focus is on reaching a relevant group of individuals to spark and/or boost, promote, positive social changes in their respective communities.
The need for this foundation emerged after a group of enthusiasts and activists for human rights implemented activities for the global campaign of 16 days of activism against gender based violence in 2004 (www.zenska-glavo.igorbanjac.net). A low – budget but dynamic set of activities for the period between 25th Nov. and Dec.10th was a success because numerous individuals and organizations joined and initiated activities, and a large group of diverse citizens showed interest and joined educational and creative workshops. In 2005 and 2006, this campaign was realized with numerous partner organizations, and over thousand participants in workshops and other sessions
(please see www.fondacijacure.org 16 days of activism calendar in English), such as the jam sessions where we fund raised for SOS Kinderfdorf in Sarajevo and Basketball women team in wheelchairs.
Until today Foundation CURE organized numerous street actions, such as 8th March – International Women Day, actions is cooperation with collective „Food not bombs“, anti violence and militarism actions etc.
